Navigating a Project¶
This tutorial will introduce you to the basics: How to open projects, toggle layers, toggle cells, add bookmarks, add rulers, and configure shortcut keys to commands.
Unzipping the Examples¶
Unzip examples.zip to a directory on your computer. On Windows, use an unzipping program such
as 7-Zip. On Linux, type:
yum install unzip
unzip examples.zip
Opening a Project¶
Go to the
Filetab and clickOpen Project.
Browse to
examples\Digital Logic\Pix2Net.prj, and double-clickPix2Net.prjor click the Open button.
When the project finishes loading, the
Overlaywindow will appear.
To pan around in the Overlay window, hold down the middle mouse button and drag the screen in the desired direction. To zoom in and out, use the mouse wheel.
By default, the Zoom to Area tool should be selected. Select the Home tab to veryify. If not, select Zoom to Area.
To use this tool, hold down the left mouse button and draw a rectangle around the area you want to magnify.
Press the Home key to restore the original magnification.
Viewing Layers¶
The layers are controlled in the Layers window.

Try turning different layers on and off, and changing their display settings.

Viewing Cells¶
The cells are controlled in the Project Cells window.

Right click on AND2X2MHT to bring up the context menu:

- Click
Show AND2X2MHTto show all instances of that cell. - Click
Hide Allin the context menu to hide all of the cells. - Click
Add Persistent Filterto show all instances of the cell persistently. (Until you clickHide Allagain) - Repeat with other cells. To turn on/off persistent cells, click the
icon to open the Cell Visibilitypane. Toggle cell visibilty with the check boxes.

- Close the
Cell Visibilitypane by clicking the red x in the upper right corner of the pane.
Adding Bookmarks¶
In the Overlay, move to a random location and zoom in.
Go to the
Viewtab and clickBookmarks.
Click on the green plus sign to add a bookmark.
Highlight
Untitled, select the pencil, and rename the bookmark toMy Location.
Move to a different location in the Overlay.
Double-click
My Locationin the Bookmarks window. In the Overlay, the camera will snap back to the original location.Highlight
My Locationand click the red ‘x’ to remove the bookmark.Close the Bookmarks window by clicking the red x in the upper right corner.
Adding Rulers¶
Go to the
Hometab and clickMicron Ruler.
Click and drag in the Overlay window to create a ruler. Hold down
shiftto force an orthogonal line.
Click
Select Ruler.
Click and drag in the Overlay window to draw a box around the ruler. The ruler should now be selected.
Right-click in the Overlay to bring up the context menu. Click
Selected Ruler→Delete.
Configuring Shortcuts¶
Click
Configure Shortcuts.
In the Configure Shortcuts dialog, scroll down to the
Full Zoomcommand.
Click on
HOME, in the right-hand column. You will be asked to enter a new shortcut key. Press theJkey.Press the Ok button to close the dialog.
Hover over the
Full Zoombutton to see the updated tool tip.
Press the
Jkey. TheFull Zoomcommand should be executed, causing the camera to zoom out to the original position.Open the Configure Shortcuts dialog again, and set the
Full Zoomcommand back to theHomekey.
